In the beautiful foothills of the Pyrenees, France, in the hamlet of L'Escale, near Carcassonne, South West France - about 14km from the market town of Quillan and around 80km south of Carcasonne - is Le Chalet, our French holiday self catering chalet which enjoys panoramic views across the mountains of the Pyrenees and forests.
A wonderful base for your exploration of the Cathar Pyrenees, with its ancient castles, forests and spectacular mountain gorges and also excellent country for walking, cycling, horseriding, canoeing and hang-gliding. Puivert has a lake with beach for swimming in summer. Birdwatching is excellent with many species especially raptors not seen in the UK.
With an altitude of 630m, Puivert is only a one and a half hour drive to the Mediterranean or Andorra. Just half an hour from ski stations at Camurac and Chiula and one hour from Carcassonne.
