Property description
We have two homes. The farm-house is available nearly any time (because we live 1.5 miles away, at the lake-house). It's gorgeous. 1792 house, 1800s barn (it's the barn that was in the film, The Juror), in which we have music, movie, and kids games parties, frisbee matches, wading in the river, etc. I work in the barn (though I wouldn't when the family comes), so it's got a phone and internet and wander about on the six acres (walnuts, cherries, chicken coop, river, forests) when I'm writer blocked...<br />
The lake house is more restricted with respect to when you could come. It's in a suburban neighborhood on one acre (feels like it's on the road though, because most of the property is adjoining woods), but when you look out the bedrooms, dining room and/or kitchen, you see nothing but the gorgeous lake sixty feet from the home, down a ten foot hill, and the mountain, on the other side of the lake.

Surroundings
Horseback-riding is ubiquitous around here, the restaurants are great, it's an hour from Manhattan, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, etc. are all simply out the door.
